Have You Considered My Servant Job?
One question that can change our view on a lot of issues about God. If only this book were not in the Bible we could hang our hat on some viewpoints about God. God always protects his children. If you do what is right you will be rewarded. All good theories, but hardly the truth in the case of Job. The Bible states about Job in the opening chapter, “This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.” With that opening statement one would think that God would have Job’s back. Well, he did until one day when Satan approached God and basically to him that he had been doing what he wanted with God’s creation. The God said, “Have you considered my servant Job?” If only that question had not been asked, and if only God had not responded to Satan’s request. Maybe our understanding of how God works would be more straight forward. But it was, and He did. So what about Job? Maybe our understanding should not be focused so much on Job, but on God. God is sovereign, he knows and can see everything. We have only a glimpse of our moment in time. God’s view is much broader and inclusive than ours. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 We must trust that in ALL things God will work it out.
